Sarah Ballcreates beautiful object and jewellery designs with concepts that relate to the body and has a reflective and personal process.
The vessels she is exhibiting for 888 relate to censorship and the destruction of personal stories, in order to uphold a facade of strength and virtue in the Chinese Govenment. This is symbolised in her own journals that are entiwned as part of the work. Physically, the strength of the smithed and crocheted vessels and the allusion to light of the journal shards, reflect this tangle of stories; the convoluted weaving of "truths" by a "dictatorship". The form of the vessel can be seen as a metaphor for the people of China being fed false information by the State-run press.
