Locust Jonesmakes art in order to channel his energies; in isolated locales, foreign countries, trains, deserts, war zones, planes, ships, cars, in darkened rooms and confined spaces. He says that he makes work best when physically and psychologically challenged.
"Isolation inspires a freedom of the senses, inspiring me to respond, be it hacking a piece of wood with a machete when making a woodcut or scribbling violently to exorcise the beast in my consciousness. I scrawl with pen, pencil and oil stick; commenting on political events gleaned from television, radio and the internet."
For 888, Locust Jones is exhibiting a large political drawing.
